David has wide ranging experience in diving and medicine. Although, only a recreational diver (PADI Rescue Diver) he has dived all over the world. After completing the Royal Navy’s Underwater Medicine Course, he trained in Diving Medicine attending the advanced diving medicine courses in Aberdeen and served as a Royal Navy Duty Diving Medical Officer (DDMO), dealing with emergencies on a regular basis, including the hyperbaric treatment of divers.
As Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Diving he had a number of responsibilities including the training and examining of Royal Navy divers and doctors, lecturing on the Royal Navy's Underwater Medicine Course at the Institute of Naval Medicine (INM), dive equipment trials and dive related research. He performed regular clinical assessment of diver’s fitness to dive including their evaluation at lung function laboratories.
